How it works

Frame the exact text, then ask once.

Read mode sends one owner-triggered image through the connected Sight service and returns a concise response. Good lighting, straight framing, sharp focus, and large legible type improve the chance of a useful result.

It is not a batch scanner or document archive. Long pages, dense tables, stylized fonts, handwriting, curved packages, reflections, and partially hidden text can fail.

Privacy beside capture

Text can be more sensitive than a scene.

Do not submit passwords, payment cards, medical records, government IDs, private messages, confidential work, or other material you are not authorized to process.

JML does not store the Sight frame or reply in this release. The connected request remains subject to the active service's terms.

Choose the right tool

Dedicated readers exist for higher-support needs.

Purpose-built reading devices may offer text-to-speech, full-page capture, guided aiming, offline modes, accessibility support, training, and service guarantees that Oneira does not claim.

Choose Oneira for brief visual assistance within a broader expressive companion—not as a replacement for a specialized reader required for school, work, safety, or independent access.

Reading through a camera / one frame, a short answer, a careful check

A camera that reads text is most useful when the text and the stakes are both clear.

Oneira Sight Read is Connected beta help for a deliberate single frame of visible text, followed by a short response through an optional connected service. It can be useful for a menu, label, sign, or other concise text moment when the subject is well lit, in focus, and framed directly. It is not a batch-scanning system, document archive, guaranteed transcription engine, or a promise of translation. The Oneira character's motion-reactive expression continues to work on-device and should not be confused with connected visual processing.

Reading is often more sensitive than it looks. Do not submit passwords, payment cards, private messages, medical material, IDs, confidential work, or text you are not authorized to process. Everyone present must agree before an owner-triggered Sight capture. Long pages, dense tables, handwriting, small or stylized type, curved packaging, reflections, and partial obstruction can produce mistakes. Translation and creator assistance are still in development; optional compatible connected tools and services are separate Connected beta app-mediated paths, not extra reading modes by default.

Read mode can attempt a short response from clearly visible text in one frame. Accuracy is not guaranteed, and important details should be checked.

The advertised Sight experience returns a short reply on the device. Do not assume full text-to-speech support unless current product documentation confirms it.

Can it translate text?+

Translation is not promised as a current Sight mode. The verified modes are notice, read, and help.

Is it a low-vision assistive device?+

Oneira is not advertised as a certified assistive reader. Compare dedicated accessible reading hardware when reliability and support are essential.

Is the text physically readable in one frame?

Frame the exact line or small area you need, with strong lighting and a straight, stable view. Large, high-contrast, unobstructed text gives a short-response system the best chance of helping. For lengthy documents, tables, handwriting, dense layouts, or repeated scanning, a dedicated reader or phone scanner is a more appropriate category.

    Are you authorized to process what is on the page?

    A visual request can reveal more than its title suggests: names, account numbers, health information, private communications, and confidential records may be visible around the target text. Do not capture material you should not share. Everyone present must agree before an owner-triggered Sight capture. This includes when another person or their private information appears incidentally.

    Can you check the result before acting?

    Treat a returned reading as assistance rather than an authoritative transcription. Check dates, dosage, directions, warnings, prices, ingredients, contractual language, and anything else where one character could matter. Sight is not for medical, legal, emergency, identity, access-control, or safety-critical decisions, and no connected response should be treated as infallible.

    Oneira does not claim certification as a low-vision or accessible reading device. Buyers who need text-to-speech, full-page capture, guided aiming, offline reading, formal training, warranty-backed support, or dependable use at school, work, or home should compare specialized products that explicitly provide those capabilities.
