What is available now?

  • Working today

Working today means the expressive face has been demonstrated on a real Oneira device.

  • Connected beta

Connected beta features require the Oneira app, internet access, a compatible service, and permissions you approve. They can change and may not work with every service.

  • In development

Translation, creator help, and photography coaching are in development—not included product promises.

  • Roadmap

Specific third-party connections, storage, places, events, and offers are roadmap ideas—not product promises. No release date is announced.

The short answer

Oneira is strongest when you want an expressive object that travels with you, reacts without demanding care, and starts intentional connected requests without becoming a phone.

Oneira Dream Big+

A local AI powerhouse in a star.

Small enough to look playful. Built with a dual AI chip, OLED screen, and 1K camera, plus optional connected experiences you control.

Each $80 Founding Unit includes one Oneira device with a dual AI chip, OLED screen, and 1K camera, plus the selected color and included eye set. The 1K camera is included; its final production module and other non-material production details may change before fulfillment. Optional connected services, provider accounts, usage, and third-party fees are separate.

On-device

On-device reactions

Oneira's expressive reactions run on the device, so its face can respond without relying on a cloud request.

Optional connected services

Optional compatible connected services can extend Oneira when you choose. Setup, permissions, internet access, provider terms, and usage costs remain separate. Connected experiences work only with compatible services the owner deliberately configures. Oneira does not connect automatically to every service.

Choose Oneira when

Presence matters more than a feature count.

Choose Oneira for a motion-reactive character, a small carryable form, and a clear boundary between local expression and connected help.

The experience is designed to be noticed briefly rather than managed continuously.

Choose something else when

You need a phone, a pet game, or a standalone workstation.

A phone is better for general apps, messaging, navigation, and high-quality photography. A digital pet is better if feeding, growth, and care are the point. A standalone AI handheld is better if you do not want an app-mediated connected experience.

The honest comparison starts with the job—not which landing page has more nouns.

Compare next

Use facts you can verify today.

Compare published price, connectivity, display, camera activation, subscription requirements, return policy, and current features. Separate shipping features from experiments and future roadmaps.

For Oneira, unresolved production measurements remain labeled pending instead of being estimated as finished facts.

Compare jobs, not a feature-count sheet

Choose the interaction you will actually use.

A useful comparison starts with the job, not the longest feature list. Oneira's current job is an on-device motion-reactive companion: a small animated face that responds to movement without becoming another general screen. That puts it closer to a carried expressive object than to a phone replacement, a high-volume productivity tool, a dedicated camera, or a care-based digital pet with a demanding daily loop.

Sight adds a distinct Connected beta option rather than changing the core category. An owner deliberately sends one frame through an optional connected service for a short notice, read, or help response. Sight does not record in the background. Everyone present must agree before an owner-triggered Sight capture. JML does not store the frame or reply in this release. A comparison that ignores those limits makes the product sound more like ambient AI hardware than it is.

The clearest contrast is between Working today hardware and Connected beta services. Translation and creator assistance are In development. Optional compatible connected tools and services can be intentionally set up through the app, but their availability, terms, compatibility, permissions, and fees can vary or change. Compare the demonstrated motion behavior and bounded beta experience against alternatives you can use now.

Questions, answered

The details that decide a purchase.

Is Oneira better than a phone?+

No product is better at every job. A phone is a general computer. Oneira is a focused expressive companion designed to reduce screen and feed behavior.

Is Oneira a digital pet?+

It has an expressive character, but it is not built around feeding, discipline, health meters, or punishment for stepping away.

Is Oneira a standalone AI assistant?+

Connected intelligence is routed through the Oneira app and compatible services. It is not positioned as a cellular phone replacement.

Which Oneira comparison should I read first?+

Read Oneira vs Rabbit r1 for a standalone AI-device comparison, or Oneira vs AIBI for a character-companion comparison.

The honest boundary

Oneira's focused helpers have narrow, visible limits. Broader research, coding, and approved-workspace actions remain in development.

Decision framework

Four comparison lenses that prevent wishful buying

  1. 01

What is the primary job: character, work, capture, or automation?

Choose Oneira for an expressive, motion-reactive companion and optional short visual help. Choose another category when you primarily need sustained productivity, media capture, constant coaching, broad automation, or a general assistant that manages extensive tasks across a screen and keyboard.

  2. 02

How often should the device observe the world?

Sight is deliberately started, uses one frame, and does not record in the background. That is a strength for someone who wants an intentional boundary. It is a mismatch if you specifically want continuous sensing, passive logging, or automatic contextual capture.

  3. 03

How much responsibility belongs to the owner?

Everyone present must agree before an owner-triggered Sight capture. Important output still needs independent verification. Compare not only what a device can do, but whether its consent model, accuracy limits, and data path fit the places and people around you.

  4. 04

Am I comparing shipped capability with an early direction?

Translation and creator assistance are In development. Optional compatible connected tools and services are Connected beta paths requiring deliberate setup; no universal compatibility is promised. A fair comparison gives alternatives credit for their current functions and gives Oneira credit only for its clearly labeled Working today and beta boundaries.

Good fit

Good fit if…

  • You want an expressive object that feels intentionally smaller in scope than a phone.
  • You favor an owner-started, short visual question over a continuously observing device.
  • You prefer product comparisons that distinguish Working today behavior, Connected beta services, and In development work.

Choose differently

Choose something else if…

  • Choose a phone, laptop, or tablet if broad computing and established apps are the primary need.
  • Choose a dedicated camera or recorder if visual media is the central output you care about.
  • Choose a proven automation or AI platform if a dependable integration workflow matters more than expressive hardware.
