On-device reactions
Oneira's expressive reactions run on the device, so its face can respond without relying on a cloud request.

Product status
Working today means the expressive face has been demonstrated on a real Oneira device.
Connected beta features require the Oneira app, internet access, a compatible service, and permissions you approve. They can change and may not work with every service.
The short answer

Oneira Dream Big+
Small enough to look playful. Built with a dual AI chip, OLED screen, and 1K camera, plus optional connected experiences you control.
Each $80 Founding Unit includes one Oneira device with a dual AI chip, OLED screen, and 1K camera, plus the selected color and included eye set. The 1K camera is included; its final production module and other non-material production details may change before fulfillment. Optional connected services, provider accounts, usage, and third-party fees are separate.

Inspect the hardwareOptional compatible connected services can extend Oneira when you choose. Setup, permissions, internet access, provider terms, and usage costs remain separate. Connected experiences work only with compatible services the owner deliberately configures. Oneira does not connect automatically to every service.

Understand the agent pathPrivacy model
Ambient capture can produce richer memory or meeting context because the system hears more. It also collects more bystander speech and creates more retention, consent, and social questions.
Oneira does not market always-listening behavior. Sight takes one deliberate frame, and connected requests start through an intentional interaction.
Physical character
Oneira's screen and five-point form make its state visible. Tilt or move it and the expression changes locally without needing a cloud reply.
That is useful if the product you want is a small character in the room—not a life-logging service hidden behind jewelry-like hardware.
Before ordering
Ask what sensor runs by default, how capture is indicated, where raw input goes, what is retained, how deletion works, and whether a subscription or phone is required.
For Oneira, core expressions are local; connected intelligence routes through the app to compatible services the owner configures. Provider fees and policies can still apply.
Pendant alternative / pick the interaction you can live with
Pendant-shaped AI devices often imply hands-free access and all-day context. That can be appealing, but it changes the privacy, social, and expectation model: nearby people may wonder whether a device is listening or recording, and the owner may expect ongoing assistance. Oneira takes a more bounded path. Its current foundation is an on-device animated character that responds to motion. It is meant to be carried and handled, not worn as a persistent audio or visual collection device.
Sight strengthens that boundary rather than erasing it. The Connected beta experience starts only when the owner deliberately requests one visual frame and chooses a mode. Everyone present must agree before an owner-triggered Sight capture. There is no passive or background recording. JML does not store the Sight frame or reply in this release, although connected processing applies. Optional compatible connected tools and services are Connected beta integrations set up intentionally in the app with permissions, subject to service availability and without universal compatibility; they should not be read as ambient autonomous capability.
Decision framework
Side by side
Pendant products differ. Review each current hardware page and privacy policy before buying; this guide compares common category patterns.
| Question | Oneira | AI listening pendant |
|---|---|---|
| Default posture | Waits for movement or an intentional request | Often designed to gather ambient conversational context |
| Character output | Animated round color display | Often delivered through a phone app, audio, or light |
| Camera | Single deliberate frame in Sight | Product-dependent; many pendants are audio-first |
| Placement | Hand, desk, bag, belt, key loop | Usually chest or neck |
| Privacy question | Who processes the requested frame or prompt? | What is captured around me, retained, and summarized? |
Questions, answered
It has a metal loop for attachment, but it is not positioned specifically as a necklace. It can be clipped, carried, held, or placed.
No. Always-on or passive listening is not part of the advertised Oneira experience.
Its animated expression layer responds to device motion on the hardware itself.

Preorder a Founding Unit · $80Oneira's focused helpers have narrow, visible limits. Broader research, coding, and approved-workspace actions remain in development.
A pendant can make a product physically present for every conversation and setting. A pocket companion is a better match if you want to take it out when you choose, engage for a moment, then put it away without an expectation of continual context.
Ask whether the feature requires continuous audio or images to be valuable. Oneira does not offer that model: its local motion reactions are separate from owner-triggered, single-frame Connected beta Sight requests.
Socially sustainable hardware makes its capture rules simple to describe. Everyone present must agree before an owner-triggered Sight capture. That is a more specific relationship to privacy than expecting strangers to infer what a wearable pendant is doing.
If you need continuous transcription, proactive reminders, navigation, or communications, evaluate products designed for those verified outcomes. Choose Oneira when an expressive object and deliberate short visual help are the actual value, not a substitute for a broader assistant platform.
