Product status

What is available now?

  • Working today

Working today means the expressive face has been demonstrated on a real Oneira device.

  • Connected beta

Connected beta features require the Oneira app, internet access, a compatible service, and permissions you approve. They can change and may not work with every service.

The short answer

Oneira can be a strong gift for someone who likes expressive hardware and configuring optional AI tools. It is a poor surprise for someone who did not agree to a camera-enabled connected device or expects a tracker, phone, or care robot.

Oneira Dream Big+

A local AI powerhouse in a star.

Small enough to look playful. Built with a dual AI chip, OLED screen, and 1K camera, plus optional connected experiences you control.

Each $80 Founding Unit includes one Oneira device with a dual AI chip, OLED screen, and 1K camera, plus the selected color and included eye set. The 1K camera is included; its final production module and other non-material production details may change before fulfillment. Optional connected services, provider accounts, usage, and third-party fees are separate.

On-device

On-device reactions

Oneira's expressive reactions run on the device, so its face can respond without relying on a cloud request.

Connected beta

Optional connected services

Optional compatible connected services can extend Oneira when you choose. Setup, permissions, internet access, provider terms, and usage costs remain separate. Connected experiences work only with compatible services the owner deliberately configures. Oneira does not connect automatically to every service.

Question one

Would they want the category at all?

Do not surprise someone with a connected camera or companion because you think they need company, monitoring, or help. The recipient should want the object and understand what its sensors do.

Oneira is best for a person drawn to character design, small hardware, playful desk or carry objects, and optional tinkering with compatible AI tools.

Questions two through five

Check setup, privacy, cost, and the actual job.

Confirm they have a compatible phone and internet for connected features, are comfortable with connected processing, and understand that optional compatible connected tools and services may have separate accounts, terms, or fees.

Make sure they want an expressive companion—not a location tracker, cellular communicator, fitness wearable, full-page reader, phone replacement, therapist, or safety monitor.

Question six

Can the timing and unfinished details work for them?

Drop 01 is a preorder. Review the current shipping estimate, U.S.-only fulfillment terms, cancellation and return policy, and any production updates before giving a delivery promise.

Final dimensions, finished weight, battery capacity, runtime, and some production details remain pending publication. Gift the verified product, not an imagined feature list.

Gift decision / surprise the taste, not the setup

A good companion gift starts with the recipient’s consent and curiosity.

An AI companion can be a thoughtful gift when it matches someone’s interest in expressive objects, character design, or small hardware. It is a poor gift when the giver assumes the recipient wants monitoring, a therapist, a tracker, or a new always-connected relationship. Oneira’s clearest current experience is on-device motion-reactive expression: it is something to carry, tilt, and notice, not a generic substitute for a phone, a care robot, or a safety product.

Gift buyers should explain the connected boundary before wrapping it. Sight is Connected beta visual help, started by the owner through one deliberate frame and a chosen mode. Everyone present must agree before an owner-triggered Sight capture. There is no passive background recording. JML does not store the Sight frame or reply in this release, while the active service's controls apply. Translation and creator behavior are in development. Optional compatible connected tools and services are Connected beta integrations requiring intentional app setup and permissions; service availability can change, and no universal compatibility is promised.

Decision framework

Four questions that prevent the wrong kind of surprise

  1. 01

    Would they choose this category?

A companion is personal. Confirm that the recipient enjoys playful hardware and wants an expressive object, rather than using a gift to imply they need company, supervision, productivity help, or an AI relationship they did not ask for.

Questions, answered

How much does Oneira cost?+

Which edition has the best features?+

All eight Drop 01 editions share the same hardware and price. Choose the finish the recipient would enjoy.

Is a subscription required?+

No Oneira subscription is required for core motion-reactive expressions. Connected third-party services may have their own fees.

Can I give Oneira to someone who needs monitoring?+

No. Oneira is not a medical, emergency, location, fall-detection, or safety-monitoring device.

The honest boundary

Oneira's focused helpers have narrow, visible limits. Broader research, coding, and approved-workspace actions remain in development.

  • 02

Can they use connected features comfortably?

Connected beta Sight requires the app, internet, a deliberate capture, and attention to connected processing. The recipient should understand the rule: Everyone present must agree before an owner-triggered Sight capture. This is especially important around family, work, or friends.

  • 03

    Are expectations current?

Give the verified present product: on-device motion reactions, a bounded Connected beta visual-help path, and Connected beta integrations with optional compatible connected tools or services when intentionally set up through the app with permissions. Do not present in-development translation or creator tools as guaranteed parts of the gift, and remember that service availability can change with no universal compatibility promised.

  • 04

Do they need a specialist instead?

A gift should not substitute for emergency support, accessibility equipment, medical monitoring, navigation, or a communication device. If the recipient depends on one of those outcomes, compare dedicated products with clear support and reliability commitments.

  • Good fit

    Good fit if…

    • The recipient already enjoys distinctive physical objects and likes a little personality in everyday technology.
    • They would appreciate a companion that reacts locally without a care chore or a feed to maintain.
    • They are comfortable learning the consent and connected-service boundary before trying Connected beta Sight.

    Choose differently

    Choose something else if…

    • Choose a familiar entertainment, hobby, or design gift if you are unsure whether they want a connected device at all.
    • Choose a purpose-built assistive or safety product when the gift is meant to solve an essential access or care need.
    • Choose a phone accessory if the recipient primarily wants apps, messaging, media, or broad everyday utility.
