Real working Oneira / photographed in hand

An expressive pocket companion is a small physical character whose face and behavior change in ways connected to the moment. The best version feels readable without demanding constant care: you move it, glance at it, or touch it, and the response makes sense.

Expression is behavior, not a folder of clips

A hundred animations can still feel lifeless if they play in a fixed rotation. Expression comes from timing, transitions, and input. A blink needs variation, a startled face needs a cause, and a sleepy state should not arrive with the same mechanical interval every time.

Oneira connects its animated face to movement, orientation, and touch. The six-axis IMU also lets the face remain upright as the star-shaped body turns, so the character keeps a stable relationship with the person holding it.

Why carry one

The purpose is not productivity. It is a tiny moment of presence: something on a bag, desk, or in a hand that can look awake, curious, shy, bright, or sleepy without asking you to open an app.

That narrower purpose can be a feature. A device that does not host a feed, advertising timeline, or notification stack has room to feel like an object rather than a portal into everything else.

How to evaluate the product honestly

Watch video of assembled hardware in a real hand. Check whether the display is actually running, whether the response follows input, and whether product renders are labeled. Then review the commercial facts beside the visual story.

Oneira is offered in eight $139 editions that share the same hardware and one 500-unit Drop 01 pool. Edition pages describe the finish direction; the live selector confirms what can be ordered.

questions, answered.

Is Oneira just a slideshow of faces?

No. Its face system is designed to react to motion, orientation, touch, and behavior state instead of simply advancing through a fixed gallery.

Does it require daily feeding?

No. Oneira is not sold as a feeding-and-discipline care game, and it does not punish the owner for stepping away.

Are all eight Oneira editions different inside?

No. They share the same hardware and behavior. The edition changes the exterior finish direction.
